These boulders are over five feet in diameter and are only partially exposed. As you mentioned, your workers could not break the boulders with a 90Jb. pneumatic hammer. We find it acceptable to dowel the wall footings into the boulders where they occur. The following steps should be taken: 1. Remove all boulders that are smaller than the footing width. 2. Drill and epoxy footing dowels 9" into the boulder. The quantity of dowels shall match that of the footing. 3. Drill and epoxy wall dowels 9" into the boulder. The size and spacing of the dowels shall correspond to detail 54. 4. Prepare surface of boulder by removing excess dirt with a wire brush and washing it with water. 5.
