RE: Non-approved sign at the Brandess Building
Dear Ms. Holdstock
My name is Joe Batcheller. I am a Planner with the Town of Vail. I am writing to inform you of
sign code violation present at the Brandess Building where your business is located. A sign has
been erected for Hair’s 2 Vail Salon without receiving design review approval. Pursuant to
Section 11-4-1, Submittal Requirements, Vail Town Code, business signs require design review
approval:
11-4-1: SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Any sign erected within the town of Vail shall be regulated by this title and is subject to
design review by the staff and/or design review board of the town of Vail. The following
application requirements must be met for any sign that is to be erected within the town of
Vail:
A. Sign Application: A sign application for the erection of an individual sign consists of an
application for design review which must be obtained from the town of Vail's community
development department, properly completed per the instructions, and returned with the
appropriate materials to the staff in order to begin the 2-phase review process listed in
section 11-4-2 of this chapter.
The Town requests that you submit an application for design review of the sign for Hair’s 2 Vail
Salon no later than November 30, 2014. Applications can be found online at www.vailgov.com.

you have any questions. The Town can work with you if additional time is necessary. Should an
application not be submitted by the date above, or an alternatively agreed upon date, the Town
may pursue the issuance of a citation for the violation.
