I visited the site late Friday afternoon and would like to take this opportunity to raise some issues with your proposal. I would like to know more regarding the height of the proposed retaining wall and the potential for impacts to the existing vegetation. I am also concerned about adding top soil over the root zones of the existing vegetation. There is no evidence ol gully erosion or other grade problems to indicate a maior problem requiring fill. Flegarding the fence, I suggest that you propose a split-rail fence that staggers or meanders rather than paralleling lhe property line in a straight line. The fence you proposed, 5 foot 11 inch cedar fence has rarely received approval from the Design Review Board (DFiB). Fences are generally discouraged in the Town of Vail. However, the split-rail fence has been approved in other locations and if you choose to pursue the fence option I think that the split-rail is the way to go, I have scheduled your application for review by the DRB on August 17, 1994. Please plan on attending to present the application to the DRB. lf you choose to modify the application and go with the split-rail fence, I need to know this as soon as possible. Please supply the information on the retaining wall no laterthan August 15, 1994. lf you have any questions regarding this matter, please callme at 479-2138.
