RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION RESTRICTING HUNTING ACTIVITIES
IN THE VICINITY OF VAIL FOR THE SAFETY AND
PROTECTION OF LOCAL CITIZENS
WHEREAS, the hunting season for the year 1970 will.
begin on or about October 17; and
WHEREAS, certain hazardous conditions were allowed
to prevail in the Vail area in the past years re~.ating to
unrestricted hunting in the immediate area; and
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the community to
preserve and maintain safe conditions for persons and prop-
erty by restricting hunting in the area surrounding the Town
of Vail.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE TOWN OF VAIL, COLORADO, AS FOLLOWS:
That the Board of Trustees for the Town of Vail re-
spectfully recommends that the Eagle County Board of County
Commission~:rs take any and all necessary measures to pro-
hibit any hunting or the discharge of firearms in the area
extending west from the Gore Creek Campground to the Vail
interchange, along Interstate Highway 70, for an area ex-
tending one-half mile on either side of highway; and to do
any and all things necessary to have hunting in said area
restricted or prohibited by the Colorado Game, Fish and Parks
Department.

A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING PASSAGE DI~ STATE CON--
ST2TUTIODIAL AMENDMENT 3 PROVIDING FOR MODERNI-
zATZDN az' LacAL GOVERPdMENT
idHEREAS, there will appear on November 3, 197t}, General
Election ballot proposed Constitutional Amendment 3; and
WHEREAS, local officials have long supported and worked
for constitutional revisions and modernization to enable local
governments to meet community needs and Twentieth Century prob-
lems; and
WHEREAS, Amendment No. 3 would strengthen and modernize
local government by:
1. Permitting establishment upon vote of the
people of service authorities to provide services
on a regional basis,
2. Permitting counties upon vote of the people to
adopt home rule charters establishing the organi-
zation of county government tailored to local desires
and needs,
3. Removing various actual or possible constitutional
restrictions on intergovernmental cooperation and
effective governmental administration,
~+. Removing the two year terms of office limitations
on elected officials serving in statutory cities and
towns, and
5. Providing that the people in any city or town
may adopt home rule.
NOW, THEREFORE, RE IT RESOLVED DY THE $OARD OF TRUSTEES
OF TtiE TOWN OF VAIL, COLORADO, AS FOLL(}WS
1. That the Town of Vail goes an public record as
endorsing and supporting adoption of Constitutional
Amendment 3;
1970.

2. That the Town of Vail urges its citizens to became
acquainted with and vote for Amendment 3;
3. That the mayor and members of the Board of Trustees
shall communicate this message of support to citizens
through direct communication, news media and civic
organizations; and
~. That a copy of this Resolution be mailed to the
Colorado Municipal League office,
