The area between existing 18 green to existing parking lot is a minimum of 30 ft., barely enough room for protection of cars parked adjacent to the green without constructing an artificial fence. It is also unfair to the golfer who overshoots the green to the right to have to retrieve his or her ball from under parked cars. If the additional 20 ft. were added to the green site, a berm could be constructed (2 - 4 ft.) to the edge of the lot with a heavy border of spruce trees protecting both golfer and parking lot. This solid mass of trees would provide an ideal backdrop for golfers approaching 18 green and screen the lot..from view. The additional space would provide much needed spectator viewing area which is crucial especially during tournaments we are now having. The berm would elevate the spectator to viewing range. Aesthetically, it would greatly improve the view from the clubhouse porch by also blacking off view of the parking lot. Monies saved by eliminating island ($5,000) could.be spent on larger trees. It would also eliminate the need for an artificial fence along the lot edge. -- Without the center island snow removal would be simplified if and when area is used in winter time activities. - Possibly allow more parkable area during tournament days. - Would speed up asphalting of area without the island re- striction, under construction. - The west island would still provide screening from Sunburst to parking lot. -- Better control of drainage without island. 40 - Area adjacent to 18 green could be.started without inter- ference from parking lot construction. -- Lines for parking would be used in entire area regardless, to assure maximum amount of parking stalls. The entrance area to parking lot would be enhanced by build - ing a larger planter. I feel the above makes a lot of sense, will save much time and money in completing the project and will actually enhance the beauty of the area. Resultant space would be unfinished. Comments: The configuration of this particular deck lends itself to a greenhouse solution. Elevations: - North Elevation: faces swimming area, residential development although energy efficient the facade is particularly massive and unforgiving. The North side is adjacent to the swimming area deck and is unrelieved by landscaping or plant materials. Although this side is primarily service space - it does not seem that windows would be totally out of order. - East Elevation: No comment - West Elevation: The massiveness of the living area - restaurant kitchen cantilever is a little uncomfortable - elevation overlooks tennis court and landscaped berm will help soften the effect - South Elevation: Assume that upper restaurant windows are louvered, question the use of the "smoke stack" tower -- what is its purpose? The tower seems to be out of scale with the buildings as defined by: roof lines and heights, chimneys, railings, and window and door treatments.
