ON THE BIGHORN AREA ANNEXII) TO THE TOWN
~Vf~.;tir:E~.S, the 'I'owr of. Vail, Colorado, hereinafter referred
to as the "Yawn", annexed a portion of the Bighorn area, County
of Eagle, State of Colorado, through the ena~l~~~nt of Ordinance
No. 13, Series of 1974, the effective date of which was the l.lth
day of September, 1974;
WHF',RFAS, in accordance with Section 139-21-14(2), Colorado
Revised Statutes 1963, as ~~~,ded, Section 5 of said Ordinance
No. 13 provides that within ninety days after the effective date of
the annexation ordinance the Town shall i„~,se zoning on the annexed
Bighorn area under its Zoning Ordinance, Ordinance No. 8, Series of
1973, such that said zoning is to be imposed on the annexed area
by the 11th day of December, 1974;

hearings on the matter of said annexation;
T~~AS, inasmuch as the amended zoning plan and an amended
Official Zoning Map of the Town to encompass the annexed Bighorn
area which were initiated by the Town Council under the Zoning
Ordinance have not yet been completed. by the Zoning Administrator,
the Town cannot proceed at this time to i1~~~se permanent zoning
on the annexed area pursuant to the Zoning Ordinance;
Wf-iEREAS, the Zoning Ordinance was enacted to prcxnote the health,
safety, morals, and general welfare of the Town and its coordinated
and ha~~~.~~~.ious development in a manner that wi7.l conserve and enhance
its natural envir~.u~~Lt and its established character as a resort
and residential. c.~~~«anity of high quality;

Vil~ff'~2.EAS, to preclude imminent developmexit in the annexed
Bighorn area, which would be inconsistent with Town zoning and
detrimental to the environment and character of the Town, during
the period between the eff..ective date of the annexation and the
time when the Town will. impose zoning on the annexed area under its
Zoning Ordinance, the Town Council finds that it is necessary for
the preservation of public property, health, welfare, peace, or
safety to enact this ordinance as an emergency measure in order to
provide interim zoning for the annexed area; and
Whr~~, the Town Council considers that it is reasonable,
equitable, and aNN~~riate for the interim zoning to be the
p~~~.~sed zoning plan considered in the Bighorn annexation proceedings;

Section 1. Title.
This ordinance shall be known as the "Ordinance L~~sing
Interim Zoning on Annexed Bighorn Area".
Section 2. Interim zoning for annexed Bighorn area.
Interim zoning is hereby ii~~sed on the Bighorn area annexed
to the Town of Vail, Colorado, as indicated in the Proposed Zoning
Map considered in the public hearings on the matter of said
annexation, which map is designated as the Interim Zoning Map of the
Annexed Bighorn Area and is incorporated herein by reference and
made a part hereof.
Section 3. Administration of Bighorn area interim zoning to
be pursuant to Zoning Ordinance.
Administration of the interim zoning f_or the annexed Bighorn
area shall be pursuant to the Zoning Ordinance insofar as feasible,
and to the extent that it is consistent herewith the Zoning Ordinance
is incorporated herein by reference and made a part hereof.

Section 4. Limited duration of interim zoning.
Interim zoning shall be in effect only until zoning is i.~~.,sed
on the annexed Bighorn area under the Zoning Ordinance in accordance
with Ordinance No. 13, Series of 1974.
Section 5. Effective date.
~ This ordinance shall take effect upon the passage hereof.
