The cover plate assemblv conceals lhe sprinkler ope rating comf onents abovethe ceiling. The flat profile of the coverplate provides the optimum aestheti- cally appealing sprinkler design. In ad-dition, the concealed desion of the Se-ries LFll (TY2596) providles 1/2 inch(12,7 mm) verlical adjustment. This adjustmenl r€duces the accuracv lo which the fixed pipe drops to the sfrin-klers must be cul to help assure a Derfect fit installation. The Series LFll are to be used in wetpipe residential sprinkler syslems for one- and two-famrly dwellings and mo-bile homes per NFPA 13D; wet pipe residential sprinkler systems lor resi-dential occupancies up to and includ-ing four stories in height per NFPA 138; or, wet pipe sprinkler systems forthe residential portions of any occu-pancy per NFPA 13. The Series LFll (TY2596) has a 4.2(60,5) KJactor that provides the re- quired residential flow rates at reduced IMPORTANT Always refer to Technical Data Sheet TFP700 for the "INSTALLEB WARNING' that provides cautjons with respect to handling and instal- lation of sprinkler systems and com- ponents. lmproper handling and in- stallation can permanently damagea sprinkler system or its compo- nents and cause the sDrinkler to fail to operate in a fhe situation or cause it to operate prematurcly. pressur€s, enabling smaller pipe sizes and water supply requirements. The Series LFll (TY2596) has beendesigned with heat sensitivily andwater distribution characleristics proven to help in the control of residen- tial fires and to improve the chance for occupants lo escape or be evacuated. The Series LFll (TY2596) Residential Concealed Pendent Sprinklers are shipped with a Disposable Protective Cap. The Protective Cap is temporarily removed tor inslallation, and then it can be replaced to help protect the sprinkler while the ceiling is being in- slalled or f inished. The tiD of the Pro. tective Cap can also be used to mark the center of the ceiling hole into plas-ter board, ceiling tiles, etc. by gen y pushing the ceiling product against the Protective Cap. When the ceiling in- stallation is comDlete the Protective Cap is r€moved and the Cover Plate Assembly installed. WARNINGS The Series LFll (TY2596) Residential Concealed Pendent Sprinklers de- suibed herein must be installed and maintained in compliance with this document, as well as with the applica- ble standards of the National Fire Pro- tection Association, in addition to the standards of any other authorities hav- ing jurisdiction. Fallure to do so may impafu the pertormance of these de- vlces. The owner is responsible for maintain- ing their fire protection system and de- vices in proper operating condition. The installing contractor or sprinklermanufacturer should be contacted with any questions. Sprinkler/Model ldentification Number srN TY2596 Technical Data Approvals: UL and C-UL Listed. When the rated temDerature is reached, the solder melts and lhe two link halves separate allowing the sprin- kler to activate and flow water. Design Criteria The Series LFll (TY2596) Residential Concealed Pendent Sprinklers are UL and C-UL Listed for installation in ac- cordance with the following criteria. NOTE When conditions exist that are outside the scope ot the provided criteria, referto the Residential Sprinkler Design Guide TFP49O for the manufacturer's recommendations that may be accept- able to the Authotity Having Jurisdic- tion. System Type. Only wel pipe syslems may be utilized. Hydraulic Design. The minimum re-quired sprinkler flow rate for systems designed to NFPA 13D or NFPA 13R are given in Table A as a function of temperature rating and the maximum allowable coverage areas. The sprin- kler flow rate is the minimum required discharge from each of the total number of "design sprinklers" as speci- fied in NFPA 13D or NFPA 13R. For systems designed to NFPA 13, the number of design sprinklers is to be the four most hydraulically demanding sprinklers. The minimum required dis- charge from each of the four sprinklers is to be the greater of the following: . The flow rates given in Table A for NFPA 13D and 13R as a lunction of temperature rating and the maxi- mum allowable coverage area. e A minimum discharge of 0.1 gpm/sq. ft. over the "design area" comprisedof the four most hydraulically de- manding sprinklers tor the aclual coverage areas being protected by the four sprinklers. Obstruction To Water Distrlbution. Locations of sprinklers ara to be in accordance with tha obstruction rules of NFPA 13lor residential sprinklers. Operatlonal S€nsltivity. The sprin- klers are to be installed relative to the ceiling mounting surface as shown in Figure 3. Sprinkler Spacing. The minimum spacing between sprinkl€rs is 8 feet(2,4 m). The maximum spacing be- tween sprinklers cannol exceed the length ofthe coverage area (Ref. Table A) being hydraulically calcuiated (e.9., maximum 12 feel for a 12 lI. x 12 11. coverage area, or 20 feet tor a 20 fi. x 20 ft. coverage atea). lnstallation The Series LFll (TY2596) must be in- stalled in accordance with the follow- ing instructions: NOTES Damage to lhe tusible Link Assembly during installation can be avoided by handling the sprinkler by the frame arms only (i.e., do not apply pressure to the tusible link Assembly). A leak tight 1/2 inch NPT sprinkler joint should be obtained with a torque of 7 to 14 ft.lbs, (9,5 to 19,0 Nm). A maxL TFP44O Maximum Covsrage Area (a) Fl. x Ft. (mxm) Maxlmum Spacing Ft.
